BLUSH BORO SERIES

For State of Fashion 2022 and the Fashion + Design Festival Arnhem, Dudok Arnhem and artist Diederik Verbakel join forces to exhibit the 'BLUSH BORO SERIES'.
Inspired by the Japanese BORO textile, Diederik created this series of textile art. BORO is a class of Japanese textiles that have been mended or patched together by hand. The term is derived from the Japanese term "boroboro," which means something tattered or repaired.
The whole idea of boro is that there is beauty in discarded materials and by repairing or patching the life of the fabrics. It's a beautiful way to care for fashion and textiles. The 'BLUSH BORO SERIES' are made from discarded vintage textile scarves. The vintage scarves are screen printed by hand to give the textiles more texture and a personal touch.
The 'BLUSH BORO SERIES' were embroidered by family, friends and acquaintances over the past year. A loving and collaborative work of art.
The work can be seen from 1 June to 31 July in Dudok Arnhem and is free to visit for everyone. Official Opening on June 5 at 11 am.
