Whataboutery 9: #Fairness

A talk in Berlin with special guest Bethany Williams

Especially for B&&B, State of Fashion hosts one of her Whataboutery meet-ups in Berlin. Each Whataboutery is based on one of the hashtags of our manifesto. In Berlin, we'll focus on #FAIRNESS.

There’s no denying that the fashion industry has more than often represented a vision on beauty that is not corresponding with the world we live in. Many are fighting for necessary change and a more inclusive industry. However, inclusivity has also become a buzzword and its definition is layered: it is about ethnicity, gender, size, age and so much more. How can we create a fashion industry that can speak to all and harms few?

Fashion designer Bethany Williams will join State of Fashion’s Renee van der Hoek to talk about the project ‘Conscious Contemporary Craft: Connecting Communities’ that connects designers to disadvantaged women, and the film ‘Woman in Change’, that focuses on ‘second chances’ for both garments and their makers.
