From plastic bottles to high end fabrics
Over more than a decade Waste2Wear recycles plastic bottles as a resource for the production of high end fabrics. Founder and Dutch Entrepreneur in China, Monique Maissan found her life’s purpose in 2006 when she started exploring and developing this new groundbreaking discovery. Since then she has developed truly innovative fabric qualities for high end apparel, bags, uniforms and medical institutions, with a dedicated focus on honest and clear information of how many recycled bottles are included in each product. The company ensures a complete transparent and compliant supply chain, supported by an unique Recycle Assurance 3-step (RA3) certification.
With the brand Waste2weave Monique combines environmental efforts with improvement of likely hoods. For such work she was awarded “Enterprising Woman of the Year” in 2012 and the Women Economic Forum's Outstanding Women for the Advance of Sustainability in 2017.
Currently she is involved in the Plastic Ocean Project in China. This project is designed to take plastic out of the ocean in partnership with several government organizations, universities, NGO’s and a large number of companies. The project aims to identify, quantify, replace and recycle, different types of waste on coastal area’s in order to create upstream solutions and drive policy change.
