Amy Suo Wu, Shantou, China

Amy Suo Wu was born in China, grew up in Australia, and lives in The Netherlands. She is an artist, designer, and teacher. Her practice approaches how text and textile can be woven together to form embodied publishing as new forms of disseminating knowledge.

Shapeshifty, 2022.

Shapeshity is a publishing experiment permeating the politics of visibility and invisibility of language embodied in a garment that is a protective armour and safety blanket at the same time. The work engages with the concept of code-switching (or language alteration) of a specific context and lived experiences of Rotterdam artists Sami Hammana, Sandim Mendes and Sarafina Paulina Bonita and the fashion designer Karen Huang.
